24-hour check-in for station and airport hotels
BitLegacy lets a small hotel sell true 24-hour stays: the guest checks in at any time and checks out at the same time the next day.
A guest who gets off a 3 AM train or a late-night flight does not want to pay for a full night and then leave at 11 AM. With 24-hour stays switched on, your hotel can sell that guest a fair 24 hours from the moment they arrive, and your front desk does not have to argue about late checkout. BitLegacy handles the timing, the late checkout charge, the cleaning buffer and the times on the invoice for you.
How a 24-hour stay works
A 24-hour stay is counted from check-in, not from a fixed checkout time.
- Check in any time. A guest who arrives at 4:30 AM checks out at 4:30 AM the next day.
- Book one or more units. Each unit is 24 hours. A guest can book 1 unit, 2 units (48 hours) or more, up to the limit you set.
- Two places to book. Guests book 24-hour stays on your hotel’s own booking website, and your staff can create them at the front desk.
- Overdue alerts and an Extend button. If a guest has not checked out at their due time, BitLegacy shows an overdue alert. If they want to stay longer, staff press Extend instead of making a new booking.
24-hour stays are off by default. The owner switches them on in Settings. The feature is included free on all Hotel and Resort plans. Homestays and farmhouses can have it turned on on request.
Late checkout rules
Late checkout follows a set rule, so guests and staff know the charge in advance.
| How late the guest checks out | What is charged |
|---|---|
| Up to 2 hours | Free |
| More than 2 hours, up to 6 hours | Half price |
| More than 6 hours | Another 24-hour unit |
These charges apply by default, and owners can adjust it in Settings.
Example (illustrative times): a guest checks in at 2:00 AM, so checkout is due at 2:00 AM the next day. If they leave at 3:30 AM, there is no extra charge. If they leave at 6:00 AM, they pay half price. If they leave at 10:00 AM, it counts as another 24-hour unit.
Cleaning buffer and online stay limit
Rooms need time to be cleaned between guests, even when checkouts happen at odd hours.
- Cleaning buffer. BitLegacy keeps a cleaning gap between one stay ending and the next one starting. It is 45 minutes by default. A room that frees up at 4:30 AM is not offered to the next guest before 5:15 AM.
- Longest stay allowed online. You decide how many 24-hour units a guest can book on your website, anywhere from 1 to 30 units. Longer stays can still be handled at the front desk.
Invoice and WhatsApp times
With nightly stays, a date is usually enough. With 24-hour stays, the time matters. BitLegacy shows the exact check-in and checkout times on the invoice and in the WhatsApp messages sent to the guest, so the guest knows when they are due to leave and there is less confusion at the desk.
What OTAs see
OTAs such as MakeMyTrip see these bookings as normal nights. They do not show 24-hour stays to their guests. True 24-hour stays are booked on your hotel’s own website or at the front desk. Your OTA connections keep working as usual through the BitLegacy channel manager.
Which website templates support it
24-hour online booking works on the Default and Luxury website templates. If your hotel website uses another template and you want guests to book 24-hour stays online, switch to Default or Luxury. Front desk 24-hour bookings do not depend on the template.
24-hour stays are also different from hourly booking. Hourly booking is a separate BitLegacy feature for short stays. A 24-hour stay is a full 24 hours from check-in.
