Google Search and Maps send high-intent travellers. That is why hosts want a website URL on the map pin.
It is also why Google suspends listings that look like rental ads for private homes rather than eligible local businesses.
This post is for villa and farmhouse operators in India. Hotel GBP basics: hotel SEO / Google ranking. Product page: website on Google Maps / lodging.
Eligibility before optimisation
Before you hire an “SEO agency” to create pins:
- Read Google’s Business Profile eligibility and representation guidelines (they change — use the live Help Center).
- Ask: do guests visit a real lodging business you are authorised to represent, with honest name / address / hours?
- If you only rent a private holiday home with no eligible storefront operation, do not force a pin. Focus on website SEO and OTAs instead.
Google’s lodging / vacation-rental help also notes that individual homeowners are often not eligible for a GBP for the physical home in the way hotels are. When in doubt, do not invent a category.
What to put in the website field
| Bad | Better |
|---|---|
Only airbnb.com/rooms/… |
Your BitLegacy site or www.yourstay.com |
| Lead-gen / referral landing pages | Site you own and manage |
| Keyword-stuffed URL farms | One authoritative booking URL |
BitLegacy guest websites: /website. Custom domains: custom domain guide.
NAP and reviews still matter
Eligible or not, spammy names (“Best Luxury Villa Lonavala Pool BBQ”) and fake reviews backfire. Use the real operating name, accurate address, and real guest reviews.
Farmhouse / villa software angle
Entire-place operators on BitLegacy use the Farmhouse / Villa plan (₹650/month, Channel Manager included) — not hotel Starter ₹299 and not Homestay ₹1,000. Product: farmhouse / villa management software. Hosts who also sell on Airbnb: direct booking website for Airbnb hosts.
Practical sequence
- Publish a bookable BitLegacy site
- Add custom domain when ready
- Confirm GBP eligibility
- Verify profile → set website URL → photos → reviews
- Keep Airbnb calendars synced via Channel Manager if you still list there
